I’ll tell you a story of great kings. In the past, men were heroes, brave and strong. Let me tell you a story of the Danes.
The Danish King Hrothgar came from many brave kings before him. They fought and became rich and built a great kingdom. Hrothgar continued this. He fought and became richer, and many men came to fight with him. With most of that money, he built a great hall, Heorot, for his brothers in battle.
Heorot was warm and golden, rich and strong. With a place like that, there’s always someone who wanted to ruin it. Take it. Someone who hated the people who were warm and happy.
Grendel was his name. He was a demon born for bad things, who came from killers, cursed by God.
